Case Study
The dojo (nwks)

Creative Process

Using the client Facebook page, the listing on The Sports Directory and research on similar websites contributed to finalise the layout and ideas for this website.

A story in Research

The Situation

There are currently three Dojos in the East Rand (Benoni, Boksburg &  Kempton Park). The client requested a website that will feature information about all three Dojos and the instructors. The goal is also to get the website to rank high on Google search and to get more students to join the amazing karate family and community.

Solution

It was suggested to the client that we design a modern WordPress website for The Dojo. The motivation for using the WordPress platform is that it is user-friendly, responsive (mobile friendly) and rank high on Google Search.

The Result

A professional website with all requirements requested by the client. According to the website report (11 Nov – 2 Dec 2023), the traffic went up by 172.2%

Product Features

The website has a clean minimal and responsive design. It includes information on what karate is and the health benefits. Karate is not just about self-defence and fitness, it is a way of life that promotes personal development through the core values of integrity and loyalty.

User Experience Research

Various simlar websites and information was researched to ensure a good user experience.

Design & Layout

The minimal and modern layout ensure that the website is user friendly, visually appealing, and easy to navigate.

For the NWS Karate East Rand website branding, incorporating the colors of white, black, and red create a striking and impactful visual identity

Branding Elements:

Integrated karate-inspired graphics of martial artists in action or subtle textures resembling traditional karate uniforms, to reinforce the theme.

    • Implemented clean lines and geometric shapes to convey strength, discipline, and precision.
    • Used whitespace strategically to enhance readability and draw attention to key elements.

By combining these elements I created a visually compelling and cohesive website design for NWS Karate East Rand that reflects the essence of the brand and resonates with its audience.

Modern Website

The website is based on modern layout and website trends.

“The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants .”
